When we really think about leadership, isn’t it to support, encourage, appreciate, and inspire? Otherwise all you really have left is to boss people around or micromanage them.

As the teacher shortage worsens, the priority of school districts should be taking care of teachers and staff. Without them there will be no school for children to attend.

Regardless of your role or position,personally or professionally, I can not overstate the power of encouragement.

Even the best teachers who seem to have it all together still need encouragement, support,and to know they’re appreciated and the same is true for administrators too.

Good leaders know their stuff. Great leaders know their stuff and their staff.

I’ve learned a lot of things as a principal… but the big one is this: Teachers are the most important resource in the school. They need to be supported, encouraged, and celebrated. They drive the school.

Thank your school counselors. Most have no idea how much they shoulder and how much they absorb simply by doing their jobs. Counselors carry the weight of an entire community and will oftentimes sacrifice their own families for the betterment of those whom they serve.

A Gallup poll showed that of ALL professions, TEACHERS were least likely to say their opinion counts & least likely to say that their supervisors create an open & sharing environment. Leaders, don't be afraid to seek input and feedback if you want a committed staff this year.
