What tf is this woman saying? Please don’t piss me off. We have women across the South East, Enugu included, who are thriving in business and careers. Let’s not rewrite reality. Since you mentioned Enugu, let’s be specific. Brands like Gossip Beauty are owned and run by women. We have OAPs like Didee. We have women running businesses, managing companies, leading in banking, building careers in medicine and beyond. My own aunt supplies building materials. My friend’s sister is a prominent doctor at UNTH. These are real examples, not theories. So what do you mean by “Enugu keeps married women small”? If you and your circle are not building anything, that’s a personal situation, don’t project it onto an entire state where other women are actively thriving. If your dream is Lagos, go there. But don’t demarket Enugu with sweeping statements. Narratives like this do real damage, they discourage people from investing, building, and returning home. And even if there are challenges, the question is: what are you doing to change it? Why not be part of the solution? Why not be a pioneer? Let’s be honest and responsible with the stories we tell about our people.

Being raised Igbo, I will say this, I am a confident and self-aware person. I don’t see someone praising themselves or their people and feel the need to make it about me, compete, or start tearing them down. You won’t find me there. I was raised with self-love and self-awareness, so I spend my time affirming myself. And because of that, I can freely acknowledge others. Giving a compliment or credit where it’s due doesn’t take anything away from me. I grew up being told I was beautiful, did it get to my head?
