@ZekooXP @lextorias But the thing is : you get pay when they listen to you. And that create a massive change on music structure over the years which is crazy and once again lead us to a fully formated world 😵💫

@Staz117 @lextorias but also making the subscription limited, for example, yes you can listen to music but you can't download offline, you could only download those songs that you have purchased in a new DRM style like kindle does

“Once people grow used to getting something for free, they stop looking for legitimate versions” is patently false
Companies like Steam and Spotify made billions in piracy-ridden industries just by offering an easier legal alternative

Dexerto@Dexerto
Gachiakuta's creator says piracy does harm the manga industry, pushing back on claims from global readers “For many people, pirate sites are the only way they can read manga ... Once people grow used to getting something for free, they stop looking [for] legitimate versions”
English

@ZekooXP @lextorias And talking about Spotify, there is too a lot of change of how musics are composed today because it need to adjust to consumer habit. Like when discovering a new sound, poeple usually give it 6 to 10 second before clicking "next"
English

@ZekooXP @lextorias Honestly sounds fair. But with a cut in price because that shit have become expensive lol.
English

@ZekooXP @lextorias ... And that's why I agree with that notion of "lowering the value of things", poeple want to pay the minimum to have the maximum. It obviously can't work like that. But imo we're heading slowly to that balance because ownership become a more and more important subject today tho.
English

@Staz117 @lextorias I see, interesting viewpoint. Now I'm thinking, what if for example Spotify besides having a subscription model, it should also have a purchase model like Bandcamp that gives 99% of earning to creator? Like, the sub makes the site operative and fans can buy the discs to support
English

@ZekooXP @lextorias Yep that would be nice. The reality is that the world today can't fonction with a 100% one time purchzse system neither that it can with a 100% subscription. The industry today need to be balance in between. And the problem is ...

@ZekooXP @lextorias And it's even more a disaster when it bring down a whole industry because everybody want that kind of services without imagining all the inherent problems and limit that come with it.
English

@Staz117 @lextorias I see, but for example, didn't Spotify said they became profitable some years ago? And Netflix afaik is profitable since 2003 they're clearly sustainable and if it is about artist earning, Deezer and tidal for example pays a lot more than spotify and they're still profitable
English

@ZekooXP @lextorias If i had to do a metaphore I can sell shit bread with only cheap ingredients that will eventually kill you and being profitable with it. Doesn't mean it's not a disaster.
English

@ZekooXP @lextorias Like a said it's a rabbit hole but like, talking about gaming, see all the problems of game pass ? Same shit. I'll try to find you really good articles, interviews and videos about that if I have time. But subscriptions is killing creative businesses right now. It's really rough.
English

@ZekooXP @lextorias It's too much of a complex subject for that shit platform but in short being profitable as a company doesn't mean being a sustainable business model in the industry for a ton of reasons and a lot of the biggest figures in cinema talked about that at multiple occasions.
English

@ksmmk324170 @saishida @azukiglg Did I said that ? I don't think so. I just explained that launching a publishing company is way more complicated than it look.
English

@ZekooXP @lextorias I specifically talked about subscriptions streaming services economic model. Steam is a whole different thing.
English

@Staz117 @lextorias I hope you can bring some scientific studies that can support your statement that those legal companies are "barely sustainable", isn't steam one of the most profitable companies of all world and history?
English

@azukiglg やっぱり現地のファンが法人作って日本の出版社と交渉する、が一番上手く回りそうな気がするんだけどなぁ。
ブラジルのファンが「南米全域分は俺達がやってやらぁ!」みたいにならんのかな。
