Well I was passing to pick my daughter up from uni for Christmas 🫣 but a bird full of character and really enjoyed watching the Boat Tailed Grackle in its favourite garden this afternoon!

Amazing weekend trip to Holland with the Spectacled Eider being the star. Other birds included 1000,s of geese including Lesser White front, 14 White Tailed Eagle, Rough Legged Buzzard, Black Winged Kite, Pygmy Cormorant, Red Breasted Goose, Bufflehead, Scaup Smew and ShoreLark

Dusky warbler at Westbrook Kent showed very well at times today, although challenging to photograph within the low vegetation!

Lovely Birthday gift today in the form of a male Desert Wheatear at Seasalter. Great find by @NeilBurt5 thx for getting the news out and great to see you this afternoon.

One of the Dotterel at St Margaret’s this morning. Sat down in the field and waited for them to walk past me! Got a bit muddy but well worth it!

Wilson”s Storm Petrel with Sun fish with @Scillypelagics yesterday. One of 41 seen through the day. Amazing views, also 200 European Stormy, 25 great, 8 Cory’s and 6 Sooty Shearr.

Back from Michigan with some great birds seen and now lots of photo editing to do. Kirtlands Warbler was a main target with birds very showing well. Huge thanks to Warren Whaley for his help and taking me out for the day.

Always nice to catch up with Ring Ouzel on the local patch, showy bird at Uplees copse Oare Marsh.

Best seen from the A349 railway bridge just north of Marazion. Park in the lay-by and walk back to the bridge.

After being difficult on sat with brief but good views in the evening, the Cornwall Booted Eagle put on a great show Sunday morning just before 10am.

Bonaparte’s Gull was a nice surprise whilst going for a Sunday roast dinner at Sennen Cove. Feeding in the surf with black headed gulls!

Scarce bird these days in Kent, Red Necked Grebe at Oare today which showed very well. Last record was 31st March 2021. Photo Murray Wright.

Some of the highlights from 2024. A cracking end to the year in Kent with yellow warbler and Scops Owl on the same day giving me 3 new county birds in 2024. Looking forward to 2025!

Slightly better photo of the yellow warbler at New Hythe from yesterday. The bird was far more elusive and mobile than previous days.
