FAREWELL THREAD: It started with Manchester City in Europe and it ends the same way. The @BBCSport live page has come on a bit in the last 10 years and last night was my final voyage in charge.

An important read. It's been clear that #ntfc haven't been able to compete in L1 this year despite record losses and I don't really blame our owners. It's mad that other, as small, clubs are losing £8-10m a season now

@Belly8417 That's very true of last year's figures - no idea if they spent more this year but yes, very fine season for them

@TJRostance Broadly agree but Lincoln lost around the same as Cobblers, had nowhere near a top of the league budget and showed it’s possible if you’ve got a really solid plan and the right people to execute it.

We are still awaiting results from Rotherham and Huddersfield, but League One clubs between them have managed to accumulate over £1 billion pounds in losses over the years for the first time since records began, so here is a deep(ish) dive into the finances for 2024/25

@Stew2205 @danielstorey85 Exactly this for me. We'd all like to be able to spend more money but equally if the owners haven't got it, what are they meant to do? Be glad to get back to L2 to be honest

@TJRostance @danielstorey85 £3m loss and this is peanuts compared to most other Clubs in L1. It's a catch22 with half our fanbase screaming out for us spend more money (that we haven't got) to be competitive while putting the whole Club at risk as we have been so many times before
