TDOC leadership visited the DeBerry Special Needs Facility to continue important conversations with staff. In the wake of one of TDOC's most difficult moments, the message was clear: safety isn’t a single initiative or policy update. It’s a daily commitment shared by all.

The Tennessee Department of Correction honors Tennessee State Penitentiary Correctional Officer J. L. Sims, who lost his life in the line of duty on March 12, 1937. Officer Sims served the State of Tennessee with honor and commitment to duty. He will never be forgotten.

Correctional Officer Dustin Pedigo was tragically killed in the line of duty at the Morgan County Correctional Complex on February 24. Officer Pedigo was deeply committed to his calling to serve and protect the people of Tennessee.
