If this game gets out of hand, go ahead and remember the officials declining to call a hit from behind on one of the best players in the league.

@dantencer Great question. I’d like to add: Why are we not allowed to listen to conversation(s) between officials while they’re working through a communication process to arrive at these rulings? They’ve been providing live audio on officials at Spengler Cup for 10 years already!

Judgment of the call aside, I’d genuinely be curious to get an educational answer to:
No immediate goal signal was given; how was the call on the ice arrived at?
Without an unobstructed view of the puck wholly across the goal line, how was a conclusive ruling determined?

From the NHL's Situation Room: The Referee’s initial call on the ice was that the puck completely crossed the goal line. Following video review, the Situation Room determined that the puck completely crossed the goal line.

There is no way the official saw that cross the line.
There is no way that you can see white ice on the replay.
The goal call on the ice determined the goal.
It looks like it was across but there is no way the ref saw it or the replay saw it.

Three Quick Thoughts
1. Made it too easy on Forsberg, really missed the injured guys up front today.
