Our Fast & Curious Tour visited the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where educators had the opportunity to learn about the Foldscope 2.0 and Foldscope Mini! This workshop allowed educators to take Foldscopes with them to share with their communities and students. Hands-On Science in Action ! @csir_ncl in collaboration with @ICGEBNewDelhi , successfully organized a 2 day hands-on #Foldscope workshop for approximately 400 school students on 12–13 February 2026 at the #NCL Pune campus. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the innovative, low-cost Foldscope technology and provide practical exposure to microscopy-based learning. #ICGEB Fellows Dr. Wajahat and Dr. Priya served as resource persons for the two-day programme, guiding students through interactive demonstrations and hands-on sessions. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. @WafiaMasih , Chief Scientist & Head – Outreach, @csir_ncl , whose leadership ensured smooth execution of the event. The initiative reflects the shared commitment of @ICGEBNewDelhi & @csir_ncl to strengthening scientific outreach and nurturing curiosity among young learners in the country.

🎉 Congratulations to our January 2026 Foldscoper of the Month, Dr. Anupma Harshal W. 🎉 📚 Dr. Anupma Harshal is a woman in STEM, educator, mentor, and passionate science communicator with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Mumbai University. With research experience at institutions like Hindustan Lever Research Centre and KEM Hospital, she blends academic rigor with a strong commitment to grassroots science education. She has led 175+ Foldscope workshops across India, including work in rural, underrepresented, and North Eastern regions, raising awareness around antimicrobial resistance. 🔬 Her journey into research began during her undergraduate studies, where hands-on work with water samples and coliform isolation sparked a lifelong curiosity for science. 🧫 Her first encounter with the microscopic world during her B.Sc. Microbiology studies left a lasting impression and deep respect for the microscope as a learning tool. 💡 Introduced to Foldscope through the Indo-US Foldscope Grant, she began with just 10 Foldscopes and went on to lead large-scale workshops, some reaching up to 180 students.
