Are streamers the modern superstars? Once, it was bands, actors, and athletes who set the cultural tone. Now it’s iShowSpeed, xQc, and Kai Cenat pulling millions into their orbit. Fan interaction is manic, as the hive mind of the audience creates a dynamic that never switches off. Chat is a constant presence, a fly on the wall in every moment. The level of engagement and the direct line to the audience make each stream feel like a shared event. Marathon streams have become internet folklore, and global tours prove the scale, as fans line up to see their online heroes in person. This is fandom in the modern arena; a peek into the world that the modern fan desires. Closer access to the entertainer. A community to interact with. Personalization and belonging at every turn. As the landscape of entertainment evolves with AI… do streamers still retain their place?

Taste was proudly represented at @token2049 in Singapore. Here are 3 things we learnt: 1. AI + IP is heating up. With the rapid adoption of AI tools, especially in crypto, there is a general understanding of just how important the future of IP is. No creator, builder, or founder wants to have their IP stolen and senselessly replicated. The awareness and interest in what Taste is building was clear. 2. Grifters gonna grift. Regardless of the industry, there are always bad actors. Crypto just happens to attract the highest volume of them. Jokes aside, there are scams everywhere; hidden in plain sight, in Telegram and at the events. Tread warily and try to associate with real people building real products and solving real problems. 3. Connecting with people matters. We spend so much time with our heads in our laptops and often forget the power of connecting person to person. There is only so much you can convey in a conference call. The power of communication goes far beyond the spoken word. It is body language; visible passion for your craft and your project. Especially when conveying difficult concepts, it is invaluable to be in person and connect face to face. See you all in Dubai!

YouTube just declared war on AI slop! What does it mean for creators, culture, and IP? From July 15, YouTube will enforce a sweeping update to its monetization policy, cutting off earnings for creators posting what it defines as “mass-produced,” “inauthentic,” and “low-effort” content. Including videos driven by generic AI voiceovers, minimally altered footage, and templated formats — especially those lacking a distinct human presence or point of view. Is this a centralized play for creative gate-keeping? Or a positive move to mitigate AI slop? Why it matters: YouTube are trying to draw a line in the sand between synthetic content and genuine creativity. They are acknowledging what most platforms have yet to: AI isn’t the threat — lazy use of AI is. At Taste, we’ve long argued that AI should serve human creativity, not replace it. The future of content isn’t spammed audio-visuals with no soul — it’s storytelling where AI amplifies human creativity and fans step into participatory roles. YouTube’s update signals an inflection point: low quality AI-native content isn't sustainable. As the AI-content floodgates open, the brands that win will be those who use the technology not to copy the past, but to co-author the future with their fans.
