For decades, governments have proudly shut down refining capacity, offshored production, and told Australians it was all ‘efficient’ and ‘modern.’ Turns out relying on the rest of the world for something as basic as fuel isn’t resilience, it’s negligence dressed up as policy. Now we’ve got one of our last refineries knocked out, supply tightening overnight, and politicians scrambling to explain how a country rich in resources can’t even guarantee its own fuel. But don’t worry, they’ll hold an inquiry, release a report, and promise to ‘look into it.’ Same script, different crisis. This didn’t just happen. It was built decision by decision, year after year. And now, when it finally breaks, we’re all supposed to act surprised.

Judging from horrific reports and complaints made by regional Australian communities... What is clear is that regional communities say they have been complaining to police FOR YEARS and nothing has been done.
