Sonic's "politics" boils down to: - Industrial bad guys are lame - Friends > evil empires - Freedom rules! There's no gender fluidity arcs, no "check your privilege" moments, and no rewriting history. Sonic was always an apolitical franchise and he always will be.

And then half the time discussion about actual gameplay just goes down to "y is thing in this game not like the other game" without any regard to the fact that the game isn't designed to do the other thing for a reason and both approaches to the mechanic works fine

So when I see people downplaying the effects of the shitty gameplay in Shadow, Secret Rings, 06, etc. when the conversation is about judging them as a whole like thats not a big deal its like come on

What sets video games apart is the fact that we play and interact with them.
When that gameplay is bad, especially in a franchise that prioritizes gameplay, then there's not much the other aspects can do to make up for that for the majority of people.

My problem truly stems from the way people here either dismiss the importance of gameplay in a video game and how its used as art. Or talk about gameplay in the most closed minded way possible

Sonic fans always have little to no faith in their games even when they get great reviews. Crossworlds is a good game. And I think i saw more pathetic "sonic fans" then arrogant ones.

Personally I think tweets like this are arrogant and don't paint the full picture. Both sonic fans and Nintendo fans were mean spirited and arrogant as fuck. Their are still people who for some reason think crossworlds reviewed poorly.
