I finally read the world’s most famous half-a-book: ‘the Mystery of Edwin Drood’ by Charles Dickens. And so, at last, I see why people have got so caught up in speculation and theorising over the half we don’t have. A wonderful rich reading experience as it is though.

@SketchesbyBoze Very much a ‘Marmite book’, as the replies demonstrate. I adored it, and have read it twice. And, oddly, I was at art school with the illustrator, Portia Rosenberg.

Someone said, “You never post about books you enjoy” (??) so here’s one. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is unique among fantasies for the richness of its characters and its eerie, mysterious magic with roots in old folklore. Without doubt the best book written since 2000.

@SketchesbyBoze Omg I loved that book and believed no one else read it. Thank you for giving it love. Made me stop and think but most of all the whole ambiance of the story was just amazing. I heard they adapted it into a tv show and always wondered if they caught the right vibe? 🥰
