I remember watching the first man on the moon landing some 50years ago which was very exciting as this new mission is. Can anyone tell me why it is that they are not actually going to land on the moon but circle round it. It’s not a criticism I’m just interested to know why they are not actually going to land on the moon.

OTD 50 years ago - Hull Vikings made a disastrous start to their opening meeting of the season against Halifax Dukes in the Northern Trophy at the Shay, but made a tremendous recovery after being 10-points down after four heats and in the end they were narrowly beaten 40-38.

Phil Crump beat John Louis 2-1 at Foxall Heath, Ipswich in April 1977 and in the very first night/ races at Eastville, Bristol 2-1 to retain the Golden Helmet. Louis was unlucky after being 1up for his bike to pack up when well ahead in heat 2. Phil Crump easily won the 3rd heat.
