Sounds like bogus stats that don't take the vastly increased labor costs, far higher potential for insects/mice to destroy varying amounts of the crops due to minimal or no pesticides used, and the fact that you have to go back to rotating crops to maintain soil balance as well, which also impacts profitability because you're not able to provide a reliable, consistent and predictable crop yield that warehouses and factories can schedule around. I'm all for organic produce but every nation needs a mix of both, and 160k farms going bust is a shocking statistic.

You left out the important part: you're talking about CHEMICAL farmers, not natural farmers. It sucks that they bought into the chemical monoculture way and are now SOL without outside inputs. Natural farming, the way civilizations were fed for thousands of years, used inputs from the system itself: organic matter like manure from the four-leggeds as well as birds. Heck people used to build pigeon houses just to entice pigeons to roost there and drop their phosphorus fertilizer packets every night. Let's smarten up and return to the life-sustaining ways of our ancestors.
