@best_alpaca_ I know like in practice what it does but I don’t actually understand the card is what I mean, like I know I can Candy Cosmog into Lunala but not why.

Can someone please explain how Rare Candy works? It says pick a basic in play and put a stage 2 on it that evolves from it. No stage 2s evolve from basics, Lunala says on the card it evolves from Cosmoem. If Cosmoem isn’t in play how do you know you can Rare Candy them?

@Danny_W_Dowling What if there isn’t a Cosmoem legal in the format but there is a Cosmog and a Lunala? Can I Rare Candy Cosmog into Lunala then?

@TopTinkTrainer Basically with things like this you go with the assumption that "the game knows." The game knows that Lunala evolves from Cosmoem and Cosmoem evolves from the basic.
