Smashed @thekauaimarathon half marathon course record by 55s running 1:05:15! So stoked to win here for the 11th year in a row and beat my time by last year by that much. I love this island, the community, the staff and volunteers. I gave the 🤙 to everyone out on the course!

@dengaterade @McKirdyTrained I haven't said it's going to be 90 degrees and high humidity. I simply have a Meteorology PhD and want to see quality and valid science being posted. Temps really only tell only half the impact on running - thanks for sharing a better climatology of temps and dewpoints.

@dengaterade Really need to show temperature and dew point to have relevance. Temp of 70F and a dewpoint of 35F is a different ballgame than if the dewpoint was also 70F

@racin__grayson These are a type of orographic (mountain) clouds that sink over the edge of the mountain ridge. These are cold clouds (therefore more dense) and descend past the ridge of the mountains while warmer air ascends up from below, which creates that formation!

Clouds are neat. Can anyone give us a science lesson on this?

@McKirdyTrained Helpful thread James, thanks for posting! One thing I'm not following is where the 2:11:30 standard comes from? Isn't the only relevant (time) standard 2:08:10?

Any athlete who raced there or courses similar, even if under the 2:11:30/2:29:30 must have that time from Nov 1, 2022 or as late as the trials on Feb 3rd on a "valid course" to be eligible - so long as a position has been released.

Over the past few weeks, I've had many long conversations with USATF officials, World Athletics Committee members, agents, coaches, and media... David Katz, David Monti, USATF High Performance ... and many others...In relation to the USA marathon selection process for Paris.
