@ValaAfshar 1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, & sought out, & set in order many proverbs. The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: & that which was written was upright, even words of truth. The words of the wise are as goads, & as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd. And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; & much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, & keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12.

And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And he took the cup, & gave thanks, & said, Take this, & divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, & gave thanks, & brake it, & gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. Luke 22.

I don't care what anyone says. You can even block me after this tweet. The Eucharist is Jesus himself. You are in the wrong "church" if you don't celebrate Mass there. The Eucharist is not a symbol. It is Jesus in his full and entire form...Body, Blood, Soul and Divinty. Count yourself blessed and lucky that as a Catholic, you get to partake in this great spiritual feast. Jesus himself made it clear that this is His Body. Not his symbol. But His Body! Let that sink in!

Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment. Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit & his breath; All flesh shall perish together, & man shall turn again unto dust. Job 34.

President Trump has called the British aircraft carriers "toys". He's wrong. They are certainly not "toys". Carriers are difficult to compare. The Royal Navy's Queen Elizabeth class carriers are smaller than the US Nimitz class ships but are significantly more capable than the US America class ships. In sortie generation rates (SGR - number of launches per day), the Nimitz class is at around 120, the QEII class around 72, the America class around 40, and China's Fujian around 100. The Royal Navy's problem is not it's carriers, it is the appalling lack of investment made into the rest of the Fleet. The RN has some of the best kit in the world, but one ship can only be in one place at one time. Why did Trump make such an inaccurate and insultingly derogatory comment? I can only guess that he a) wanted to embarrass Keir Starmer into investing more in the UK's armed forces and b) wrongly let his petulance at the UK's hesitancy to get involved in the Iran war get the better of him. What's embarrassed our country in his eyes, and in the eyes of the world, is not that the government chose not to participate in strikes against Iran, but that the appalling condition of our armed forces, their shocking neglect by successive governments, and the timidity of our politicians in acting pro-actively to defend our interests and support those of our allies, were laid bare. Below: HMS Prince of Wales, USS Nimitz and US America class and a comparison of the three classes in one photo.

£1.2 billion spent, before a single brick is laid. The Lower Thames Crossing is now officially a pre construction money pit. £1.2 billion wasted on plans, land, consultants, and bureaucracy, while our roads crumble and communities suffer. Imagine what Britain could do with that money instead: hospitals, schools, fixing potholes, lowering taxes. This isn’t progress, it’s proof that infrastructure in Britain is broken.

It’s a blight on churches all across America that multitudes have embraced what Francis Schaeffer — in his book, “The New Super-Spirituality”— called a “plastic” church culture. The plastic church is one that feigns theological conservatism while refusing to speak about sound doctrine. It is really only interested in what best makes for tangible peace and prosperity. It cares so very little about the proclamation and defense of sound doctrine, the gospel, or the refutation of sin unless it meets social sins that threaten or weaken that peace and prosperity. When you’ve met this, you’ve met the phenomenon of plastic Christianity.

The Prince of Wales seeks to assure us that, as a friend puts into his mouth, ‘I might not be at church every day, but I believe in it.’ That formulation does not necessarily mean he believes in God or the doctrines of the Church of England. ✍️ Charles Moore Article | spectator.com/article/does-i…

1 Corinthians 11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, & keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; & the head of the woman is the man; & the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image & glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Quite a few Roman Catholics were offended by the participation (even the presence) of Richard Moth, Archbishop of Westminster, at the Installation of @ArchbishopSarah at @CburyCathedral. And some were downright rude about it. She was joined there yesterday by Cardinal Kurt Koch. We know the theological differences and ecclesiological disagreements. Ecumenism requires discussion, even robust debate, and both are manifestly eased with fellowship and prayer.

@JamesMelville I waited for the Lord my God, & patiently did bear; At length to me he did incline my voice and cry to hear. 2 He took me from a fearful pit, & from the miry clay, And on a rock he set my feet, establishing my way. Psalm 40, metrical.

The word gospel simply means “good news.” In the New Testament it is not advice for better living but an announcement of a finished event. Christ died for sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.

A 40-year-old working mom of two just said what a lot of women are quietly thinking after years in the corporate grind: “I fell for it. Go to college, get the degree, you can have it all — career, kids, the whole thing. I don’t want to do it all anymore. I want to take my kids to school, pick them up, be there when they get home, chaperone field trips, volunteer, go to the gym, clean the house, do laundry, cook dinner… just be home.” She’s blunt: “It’s not worth it. Don’t fall for that sh... Find a way to be with your family.” It’s raw, honest, and hits different when you hear it from someone who’s lived both sides. Moms (and dads) — have you ever reached that point where the “have it all” dream started feeling like a trap? What would your ideal balance actually look like if money or societal pressure wasn’t part of the equation? Your thoughts 👇
