UNICEF reiterates: Climate change impacts a child’s survival, development, and protection, especially the most marginalized. Climate change is a child rights crisis; policies should prioritize equity, justice, and the protection of the most vulnerable.

Speaking at #MumbaiClimateWeek on Nature, Food Systems and People: Resilient Pathways for the Global South. Climate shocks disrupt food, water & health services, impacting a child's first 1,000 days, when good nutrition is paramount for learning, work ability & health for life.

With Artificial Intelligence (AI) powering nearly every app and platform children use daily, UNICEF, at the #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026, emphasized that the future of AI must be decisively shaped for and with children and young people. At the panel discussion, ‘From Principles to Practice for Safe, Inclusive, and Empowering AI,’ hosted by UNICEF in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), senior policymakers, industry leaders and child rights advocates highlighted the urgent need to place children at the centre of AI design, deployment and governance, so that rapidly evolving AI systems can be harnessed to expand opportunities for children while safeguarding them from emerging digital risks. #ResponsibleAI #PeoplePlanetProgress

Met with Minister Annapurna Devi, @MinistryWCD, at the National Annual Stakeholders Consultation on Safeguarding the Girl Child.   We discussed the progress made & promising practices to advance child rights & access to comprehensive national schemes and services across India.

Honoured to join Hon’ble Supreme Court-led JJC and UNICEF India’s Consultation on Safeguarding the Girl Child. Dialogue on a responsive judicial system and collective action can end violence and child marriage. Let’s equip and empower every girl in India.

It was wonderful to join the Corporate Roundtable in Kolkata to build a tripartite partnership between the Govt of West Bengal, UNICEF & Corporates who were represented through their Chambers in the gracious presence of Minister in Charge of the WB Department of Women & Children.

Cynthia McCaffre @UNICEFIndiaRep, participated in the conference on ‘Ensuring justice, rehabilitation and reintegration for child victims’ in Hyderabad. “While we recognize the excellent progress India has achieved through a strong legal and policy framework for protecting children, we must build on this and accelerate action to bring more vulnerable children and survivors into the circle of care and nurture a society where children are not only safe but thrive and grow to their fullest potential,” said Cynthia McCaffrey at the event. Attended by @TelanganaCMO, @WCDTelangana, judicial heads, police, and child rights experts, the conference deliberated on protecting the rights of child victims of sexual abuse through the creation of a comprehensive policy environment and institutional frameworks.

An enlightening interaction with the government, NGOs and academic partners that @UNICEFIndia is privileged to work with. Exemplary multi sectoral partnership for child rights advocacy and a nurturing space for present and emerging issues affecting children.
