Good news if you are a fan of fair play and competition. Per @PPAtour "Based on player feedback to ensure a level playing field and in the spirit of fair competition, starting August 30, 2026, all competitors in the PPA Juniors and Senior Professional divisions will be required to use paddles on the UPA-A Approved Paddle list. The PPA Tour works tirelessly to ensure fair competition at our events, and taking this step was necessary to achieve that."

Proud to have our work showcased by @Pickleballtv showing the incredible work being done with certification and onsite testing of paddles. Huge thanks to our partners at Pickle Pro Labs and Automated Design Corp for dreaming up, designing, and manufacturing the Go/No-Go Machine. To think of how far we have come in less than 2 years is remarkable. @PPAtour @MajorLeaguePB youtu.be/geqb5v69Hec

UPA-A tested over 250 paddles in 2025. 27 failed for spin. 24 of the 27 failed paddles tested over USAPs limit of 30 Rz & 40 Rt. Of those 24, all but 2 have USAP approval. #FairPlay

What’s the point of having rules if they are not enforced? Take a look at this chart from paddles submitted for UPA-A Certification.

@rmourpoppop @PPAtour @MajorLeaguePB @UnitedPBAssoc We invested millions to have a standard that will hold up to professional play and international expansion of the game. USAP is welcome to apply the UPA-A standard. All SOPs are available online.

@rmourpoppop @PPAtour @MajorLeaguePB @UnitedPBAssoc Great question. If you are playing at a professional level where money is on the line, there needed to be a new standard. And not only new standards, but new research, testing methodologies, machines to measure it all by, and the systems in place to enforce it all.

@PBchangesLives @TheKitchenPB @Pickleball @MajorLeaguePB @PPAtour $10k annual fee. $3k per paddle. So $13k for a single paddle. $25k for 5 paddles. If you are trying to compare to USAP, the break even is at 4 paddles, and 5+ UPA-A is less expensive. Our testing is more comprehensive and turned around on time, every time.

@easymAc10azr @pickler1234 @jessie_irvine Stamp will have been tested for ABI (break-in). It should be able to withstand normal wear and tear without going over spec. That being said, all paddles will eventually break and it’s up to players to recognize and act responsibly.

@pickler1234 @UPAApb @jessie_irvine Exactly. I know someone who went through 6 Joola IV in like 3 months. My boomstik lasted me 2 months. Proton flamingos last maybe a month. Ever played against a delaminated flamingo? Mortifying. Safety for amateurs will start with the Pros.

If @jessie_irvine told you to jump out of plane you wouldn’t do it and nor should you. It wouldn’t be safe. It’s no different with playing with (or against) a fake paddle. A fake paddle may look the same, but making a paddle hit extra powerful is no longer difficult.

@easymAc10azr @pickler1234 @jessie_irvine This is very much an issue. It’s why we test paddles every day at the pro level. The paddles you are referencing most likely do not have a UPA stamp. The Boomstik for pro play is a modified version not for sale to amateurs. The new Joola Pro IV with the “UPA Pro Certified” 1/2

@FrankADavis Tempting for sure. But please employ better judgement, critical thinking, and with all your airline status, enjoy the perks of remaining in the cabin!

Respectfully, there isn’t much I wouldn’t do if she told me to.

@easymAc10azr @spus44 No one is advocating for you to purchase a UPA-A approved paddle. We are for the professional game where fairness is a must. Paddle brands only need to meet this standard if they want to compete at the pro level. But the game at the amateur level is spiraling out of control.

@UPAApb @spus44 You guys don't get it. Majority of companies are not UPA approved because they can't afford to fork out the absurd amount to UPA approve. I support small businesses in paddles all the time, but they aren't UPA approved. So tell me, is it worth it?

There are so many great options for authentic paddles at all price ranges. There is no excuse to cheat the game. Play it fair!

@easymAc10azr @spus44 So go and support small businesses who are innovating in the space and have lower price points. Don’t allow illegal enterprises to steal from hard working businesses. If we can’t agree on this, I’m not sure it’s with the debate.

@spus44 If prices were lower for paddles, people won't feel the need to by a counterfeit that's just as good for a fraction of the cost.

@easymAc10azr @jessie_irvine UPA-A has the strictest limits on power already. In fact 47% of paddles submitted fail our certification testing, all of which are USAP approved. So we are in violent agreement that power needs to be controlled. Fake paddles are not regulated and make the game dangerous.

@UPAApb @jessie_irvine Stop using danger as a warning to not buy a fake. Paddles approved by UPA are a danger enough power wise, especially in hands of people who can't control it. If danger is a real fear, you'll lower the threshold hold of power that's approved immensely

Building them to spec is much harder, but it helps to protect the game. Pickleball cannot afford to let speeds go unchecked. It’s bad for the game, providing some players advantages, makes the game dangerous, and ultimately not nearly as fun to play. Don’t trust a fake.
