Today marks the 251st anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord, the opening battles of the American Revolutionary War. 🇺🇸 The Revolutionary War Quarter, now in circulation, honors the courage, perseverance, and shared sacrifice that defined the fight for independence.

It was my honor to attend today’s Congressional Gold Medal ceremony for Benjamin Berell Ferencz, a tireless advocate for justice, the chief Nuremberg prosecutor, and a lifelong champion of peace and human dignity. On this day of remembrance, his legacy feels especially profound. Thank you to the skilled patriots at the @USMint for creating such a beautiful tribute.

🎉Born #OTD in 1743, Jefferson helped shape America’s coinage system. His 1784 “Notes on Coinage” championed a decimal-based currency—the foundation of today’s dollar-&-cents system. His likeness appears on many U.S. coins, including the 2026 Declaration of Independence Quarter.

Inventor, astronomer, scientist and Philadelphia citizen, David Rittenhouse was born #OTD in 1732. Through an interest in science, he became friends with Thomas Jefferson in 1790. This relationship led to the establishment of the U.S. Mint, with #Rittenhouse as its 1st director.

On April 2, 1792, Congress passed the Coinage Act creating the United States Mint in Philadelphia. 🎉 From that first site to six facilities nationwide, the Mint has grown with America. As we mark 234 years, we look ahead to the Nation’s 250th & Connect America through Coins! 🇺🇸
