At the World Economic Forum (@wef) in Davos today, UTMB unveiled the Global Brain Economy Initiative, an effort to place brain health and brain skills at the center of global economic strategy in the age of AI. As technology transforms work and populations age, brain capital, the combination of cognitive health, adaptability, creativity, and resilience has become essential infrastructure for long-term growth and societal well-being. Research highlights: a case report after observing a rare cloacal exstrophy variant (two appendixes discovered during surgery) and a Wilms tumor chart review linking tumor size with histopathology, all while navigating fully paper records. Analysis now underway.

@utmb_jssom MS2s Nidhi Subramanian and Zeyanna Dhalla spent the summer in Nairobi via the UTMB Global Student Experience, joining a pediatric surgery preceptorship at Kenyatta National Hospital with pediatrics rounds, oncology exposure, NICU time, and OR observation.
