I think a way to work into it is having your comms at a price you are comfortable with and stating in your TOS that you are going to be selective on who you pick for your own comfortability. And over time as your financial situation changes you can alter the prices up or down as you see as necessary. I think you are worth more than you advertise, but I also understand the trepidation ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ‘Œ

I just wanted to thank everyone for being so kind on this post. After reading all of the comments I can definitely see how I might be under-charging for my work. But Iโ€™m honestly really scared that if I raise my prices, Iโ€™ll lose comms in the future. And Iโ€™d rather have a few people who I can work with and make something really cool, than have no comms or designs to do at all. Maybe one day ๐Ÿ’š

Be honest with me, I charge about $125 for full custom character design and reference sheets. They usually take me around 30 hours give or take depending on complexity. Am I charging too much? Because I worry I am.

Considering a lot of vtubers will ONLY interact with other vtubers as opposed to exposing their communities to other kinds of streamers/creators? I feel like this definitely needs to be said. It's a weird unspoken rule that I have noticed more and more as I continue streaming and it bugs me that it even exists in the first place. It feels too "clique-y"

That's the wild part. It's usually vtubers that don't want to collab with facecam streamers. Meanwhile, facecam streamers usually don't have a problem collabing with vtubers. Though I can understand the trepidation since what most people see on Twitter about vtubers is a lot of toxic drama so being cautious honestly is encouraged

I personally don't see a problem with it either. It's just a thing I have noticed is an "unspoken rule" that facecam streamers and vtubers don't usually stream together. Though it is usually the vtuber that doesn't want to stream with facecam streamers as opposed to the other way around. From my experience of course ๐Ÿคท

@MoriCorvyn Might I suggest vdo.ninja? It allows you to have any webcam source used for capture and you can turn that link into an OBS Browser Source so you can have them on your screen while you play! It's the easiest solution I have found anyways ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿค™

Legit it is wild that people have issues with facecam streamers and vtubers collabing. I get that it looks weird when an anime person is hanging out with a fleshy streamer, but at the same time I like the "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" style that goes with it. Also: THEY'RE BOTH ENTERTAINING PEOPLE! THE VISUAL DOESN'T MATTER HERE! IT'S ABOUT THE VALUE OF THEIR ENTERTAINMENT STYLES!

I think that's the thing that people just don't get is that this person is actually being up front about his intentions. So engaging in it is providing an opening for consent into it. I give him credit for being up front since not a lot of people would do that, but I am also glad people are bringing up that this is indeed a kink that he may be getting off to. (Because this may also be a bit which could definitely be the case as well)

Oh most definitely! Advocating for change is supposed to be the move 100% of the time, but people are incredibly impatient. As evidenced by *looks around* everything. Action may outright be taken in the background, they're working on a more solid approach at issues, they may have problems that aren't public yet, etc. All possibilities. But, it means we do have to be active in voicing our grievances even if it gets old after awhile and the dead horse has been beaten into runny pulp. (And for anyone reading my comment; if you want to have your grievances aired out here's the link for Twitch's UserVoice or make your Twitter posts while @-ing both Twitch and TwitchSupport. I mean i think this extension can be used as a resource but I think claiming an extension which states it is not accurate is not the best measure for those who view bot. But also I think a lot of situations are unique. I doubt there is a copy pasta reference for how to tell someneis viewbotting. Especially since not even the platform can prove if the person or someone else is doing it to them. But a lot of people do view bot. So in reality the point is mute. So instead of focusing on view botting or those that do, the real issues that would cause real change is trying to advocate for changes to Twitch.

Dude Iโ€™m just saying stop using a third party extension to blame people for view botting and take that energy to focus on getting Twitch to change or improve their algorithm. Iโ€™m not saying the numbers are wrong, Iโ€™m saying this app will show something like this, then someone will claim the person is view botting when they only have 100 in chat. Obviously that is not true. Or if it is, it canโ€™t be proven with the extension. So dont screenshot the extension numbers to frame people. Thatโ€™s all.

This is why the viewer extension many are using to see what numbers streamers "really have" is incorrect. This is what the extension shows for someone currently on the Front Page today. Could Twitch be view botting their own website? Sure. Is it more likely the extension is incorrect? Yes. Embedded streams, promoted streams, or just in general where some streams have their viewers come from (i.e. external websites, creator programs, game pages, etc.) are not easy to track through external programs. I'm not saying that there isn't a problem with how numbers are being tracked. I'm not saying that how Twitch tracks lurkers does not need a major change. But I am saying, that if you are going to use an application or extension to claim that live streamers are view botting, it is not viable proof. Front page streams are an example. Instead of trying to attack those that are dealing with the same issues as you, focus that energy on pushing for change. And we do need a change.
