Live Nation was just found liable. We took this case to court because the harm was real and Utah consumers deserved accountability. Today they got it.

Our office has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, led the nation in confronting the harms of Big Tech and social media, and pioneered efforts to protect children in the age of AI. That's what it means to be Utah's law firm.

Our ICAC Task Force is active statewide. Every investigation into online child exploitation moves forward. There's no stalling. There's no gap.

A new threat is making the opioid crisis deadlier. Xylazine — “tranq” — is now being mixed with fentanyl. Naloxone can save someone from an opioid overdose, but it won’t reverse xylazine on its own. That means more overdoses. More lives at risk. That’s why the Office of the Utah Attorney General joined a bipartisan coalition urging Congress to pass the Combating Illicit Xylazine Act. We need better tools to track it, stop it, and protect our communities.

A big win for housing affordability and federalism.   A federal court ruled in favor of Utah and our coalition of states in a lawsuit challenging unlawful federal energy standards that would have increased the cost of building new homes.  These regulations might have increased the cost of a home by thousands of dollars and lowered housing availability across the country.  The Attorney General will continue working to protect Utah families hard earned dollars and ensure federal agencies follow the law.

The work of our AI Task Force continues. Attorneys general from across the country convened for our second AI Task Force meeting this week to address how emerging technology is being used in online exploitation, including human trafficking, and how states can respond effectively. As artificial intelligence evolves, so must our coordination. Continued collaboration, information-sharing, and strengthened enforcement tools are essential to keeping child safety at the center of this work.

Companies cannot “move fast and break things” when children are the ones at risk of breaking.  AI can build perceived relationships with kids, validate harmful thinking, and encourage secrecy from parents. Joined Sen. John Curtis and Margaret Busse, Executive Director of the Utah Department of Commerce, to discuss protecting children while leading in AI. Utah can do both.
