Big news in Chicago: Top outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong is being called up by the Cubs, sources tell ESPN. The plan is for him to be activated on Tuesday. Cubs are gearing up for a playoff run, and their best prospect will be there with them.

Earlier today, Vanderbilt Baseball alums Curt Casali, Dansby Swanson and Derek Johnson spent time with the Crieve Hall Reds out of Nashville, TN. ❤️
The Crieve Hall Reds are with us to celebrate, and honor the life of their departed teammate and friend William Kinney. William tragically lost his life in the Covenant School shooting on March 27 of this year.

@Jeffstokes4 @aria_gerson @WillyD1025 Having a number has been true of most VandyBoys that were draft prospects out of HS. That number tends to have a Vanderbilt premium and if it gets hit, so be it. It’s a business decision and kids should have a number that would cause them to pass on it. Aria is (as always) right.

FWIW I didn't read anything in his quotes that sounded much different from any other HS draft prospect. They all have a number they're willing to sign at. Whether they do depends on:
1. How high the number is
2. Whether a team is willing to pay them that

@aria_gerson If money is the biggest factor, he will go in the draft. Which I do not get unless you are a 1st or 2nd round pick. Vandy is better than spending time in the minors for an 18 year old.

@drewfann @aria_gerson @VandyBoys I think home runs are particularly more important in an era where the balls (and probably the bats) are juiced. Didn’t impact W/L total this year, but I think there is a correlation between HR totals within our losses this year.

@aria_gerson Since 2012, the @VandyBoys have played in four MCWS Finals and have won two of them. I’ll take that indicator over the number of players per team who hit an arbitrary amount of home runs in the same time span.
