And it’s working, at least as well as we can expect. We’ve gone from one of the worst defensive teams in the top half, to one of the best, and the standings reflect this: 8th place, to 2nd, with essentially the same center backs (we even lost who many called ‘our best’)

Our defenders alone are not good enough to play without LOTS of shielding from the midfield. They all struggle with marking, and especially with 1v1 battles. How does Allegri overcome this? By hiding them behind a wall of midfielders and wingbacks, & making their job simple 🤷‍♂️

“So we can’t change formations, but why defend??” How Allegri’s distrust in our CBs also affects our STYLE OF PLAY: Yes, we play passive football. Yes, we sit in a low block. Yes, Allegri is not an attacking coach. But, in our case, this is out of necessity more than choice.

Forever? No. But for the rest of the season? Yes. As it is, we don’t have the squad for a 4atb. We’re missing: 1. Fullbacks (Saelemaekers is NOT a RB) 2. A physical, ball winning defensive midfielder (Kessie profile) 3. A top, do it all CB 4. Natural, hold up striker.

Our squad is not equipped to play a 2 man midfield. We’d be overrun, and unable to progress. Not an option. The other option is a 4 man defense (ie 2 CBs). This would be worse. Don’t believe me? Look at how the same CBs played last season in a 4atb So are we stuck with a 3-5-2?

Milanisti finding out, why we were playing Terrorball, the hard way. Allegri deems this squad not good enough and he's totally right. We don't have a single CB good enough to function in a 4man defense.
