The translation is an extract of George Eekhoud’s ‘Escal-Vigor’, a homoerotic & decadent fairy tale published in 1899. I had intended to include the novel in my thesis/book but it didn’t quite fit, so I’m glad to be able to work on this hidden gem from the fin de siècle!
