It's the same reason "Big Mac sauce" is no longer a valid ingredient to list:
McDonald's is no longer allowed to pretend that Big Mac sauce grows out of the dirt. Instead, it lists the ingredients, which are the same ones they've always used.
Apply this broadly.

@RoxxoDr @reptar321 The buying power back then was much better also. Yes inflation is inevitable but the housing market is so highly inflated right now because people around your parents age are selling and trying to get significantly more money than they should be off of the sale.

@RoxxoDr @reptar321 Just flat out that’s ~112 weeks (2yrs) of work without taking interest into account. Min wage nets someone $700 a week, and with the average listing price of ~$600k, I would need to work ~852 weeks (16yrs). I could buy a small condo for ~$350k or ~500 weeks (9.5yrs) of work.
