5 gündür Mersin'i geziyorum. Mersin'in merkezi, şu 52 katlı binanın doğu tarafında, yarım saat adres sormak için Türk aradım. Komple suriyeli. Mersin'in merkezine komple çökmüşler. Kız Kalesi'ne gittik yüzmeye. Akbaba gibi bekleyen suriyeliler ve mafyatik kürtler. Bırakın aile ile denize girmeyi, tek başıma girsem ve yanlışlıkla şortum düşse beni bile düdükleyecekler. Bunlar tavşan gibi çoğalıyor. Türkiye'nin başına bela olacaklar. Bunu öngörmek tahmin etmek zor değil. İleride iç savaş çıkaracaklar, gençler yazsın bir kenara. Çok değil, en fazla 50 yıl sonra Türkiye'yi bunlar yönetecek.

Several local media reports are pointing to a possible breakthrough in the formation of the next KRG cabinet following Turkish mediation over the past few weeks. Any progress could be further cemented during Tom Barrack’s expected visit to Erbil tomorrow. According to these reports, Turkish mediation has produced a formula based on more genuine power-sharing between the KDP and PUK. The KDP may have accepted handing the Interior Ministry to the PUK, one of the main stumbling blocks in the negotiations, alongside other significant concessions. The reported KDP condition is that the government would be formed between the KDP and PUK alone, without New Generation entering as part of a joint PUK-New Generation bloc. The PUK would therefore have to step back from its formal alliance with New Generation in return for greater concessions from the KDP. Even if the PUK receives the Interior Ministry, however, the KDP is expected to transfer the Zeravani forces, currently under the ministry, to the Kurdistan Region Security Council, which would likely remain under KDP control. This would limit the practical authority transferred to the PUK. It remains unclear whether these reports reflect a genuine breakthrough or are largely political messaging. There are some signals that negotiations may be moving. New Generation leader Shaswar Abdulwahid appeared noticeably disappointed in his latest statement, at least in tone. New Generation’s Executive Council has also twice postponed a meeting expected to formalise its agreement with the PUK. The stated explanation is that Abdulwahid is travelling because of his wife’s illness, although it is unclear whether this fully explains the delays. There is also the possibility that the reports are part of psychological warfare by the KDP, intended to drive a wedge between the PUK and New Generation. Most of the claims have emerged from KDP-leaning outlets and sources, while the PUK has said little publicly. Only a few days ago, Bafel Talabani insisted that the agreement with New Generation remained solid and would soon be formalised. The continued delay, however, suggests that the PUK is also using the alliance as leverage to extract greater concessions from the KDP. Another possible arrangement is that the PUK could formally enter the government without New Generation while informally allocating some positions to it. The idea that the PUK would simply abandon New Generation is also weakened by what has already happened in Baghdad. The PUK gave New Generation one of the two federal ministries allocated to its parliamentary bloc, despite New Generation holding only three seats. Under the usual political arithmetic, a ministry would require closer to ten seats. The situation therefore remains not confirmed . Yet it is notable that the reporting appear to be partly fed by figures close to Masrour Barzani. His expected return as prime minister is already being presented by his supporters as a major personal victory, even though it may come with significant concessions, reduced authority, binding written agreements and a parliament in which the KDP does not hold a majority.
