Look at this official proclamation he signed (2022, renewed annually): Praising Muslims for “valuable contributions” in medicine, business, technology, government, and culture. Claiming their “diversity” strengthens democracy and makes America “free and prosperous.” Lamenting “misunderstanding, bigotry, and anti-Muslim hate” that must be combated with “education and awareness.” Ending with: “Now, Therefore, I, Spencer J. Cox, Governor of the great state of Utah, do hereby declare July as Muslim American Heritage Month in Utah.” Signed and sealed. Nothing screams “traditional Utah values” like a full month dedicated to celebrating Islam - in a state built on Mormon pioneer heritage, conservative principles, and GOP dominance. Cox didn’t stop at words. He opened the door wide: First Iftar at the Governor’s Mansion, halal food festivals hyped by local media (Fox 13 gushing over “traditional bread and sweets” and how hard it was to find halal before), cricket matches with Pakistani pros — all under the state’s official stamp. Utah - your Republican governor is prioritizing this while the state’s core identity gets diluted. Why? And at what cost? Demand answers. Before “heritage” months become permanent cultural conquest.
