BREAKING: We just won our antitrust trial against @LiveNation and @Ticketmaster. Live Nation has raked in billions in profits from an illegal monopoly that coerces venues, restricts artists, and exploits fans. DC and a bipartisan coalition of 33 states refused to join DOJ's settlement because it failed to hold Live Nation accountable. Now, a jury has declared Live Nation to be an illegal monopoly — and awarded damages for years of exploitation. This is a massive win in the fight for fairness for local venues, artists, and fans.

DC voters should know about @KenyanMcDuffie's close ties with utility companies. DC residents are seeing skyrocketing rates. McDuffie had 5x more contact with Pepco than any other member of the Council, and received 1000s in contributions from from Pepco, its lobbyists + execs.

Nobody should have to fear losing access to essential utilities, especially while the legality of the latest rate hikes is in question.

A few things are clear: - D.C. lawmakers want to do something about high Pepco bills, but they've got limited tools and options. - There are real concerns about seeming to send the message that there shouldn't be consequences for people who choose not to pay their bills.

The D.C. Council an hour of its breakfast debating an emergency bill from @CMLewisGeorgeW4 that would prohibit Pepco from disconnecting electric service due to unpaid bills while the Public Service Commission figures out the mess involving rates that everyone pays.

Looking back, one thing is clear, this work has always been bigger than any one person. Community. Consistency. Showing up. That responsibility doesn’t change. We keep pushing forward. This is the DC I’m fighting for!

It’s important to note that PSC influences the supply side as well through demand response, renewable PPAs, interconnections, and deployment of VPPs, battery storage, and other DERs. The current PSC’s failure to accelerate grid modernization has made us vulnerable to price shocks

Over the past few months, many DC residents have opened their utility bills to find shocking increases—sometimes rising by hundreds of dollars. I'm introducing emergency legislation to temporarily pause electricity shutoffs as regulators review the legality of these increases.

In an opening statement, @BrianneKNadeau criticizes Pepco for not appearing at the hearing. "It's outrageous that the company thinks it's OK to not bother to show up and answer to the residents of the District. I find it unacceptable," she says.
