Stephanie Achieng, a Gender Policy and Strategy Expert at the African Union InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources, brings a wealth of experience in integrating gender perspectives into aquatic biodiversity conservation and environmental management.

With a strong background in managing Marine Protected Areas and Locally Managed Marine Areas, she has modernized Madagascar’s management tools to support sustainable development and co-created the Fisherwomen Leadership Program with the MIHARI Network.

Her work spans international conservation efforts, including contributions to the IUCN Panel for the Green List of Protected Areas, coaching in conservation standards and IMET, and serving as a WIO-COMPAS Level 1 assessor.
