@MYKLfeed * I dug out my 5th grade book report, to look at its bibliography. This is the first time I've ever used an old book report, for anything. As it happens, 5th grade was the first time I ever provided a bibliography.

@MYKLbiz I also value the mental break, the seconds or minutes long downshifting, to clear my mind and take a breath, to notice my world, to notice an insight bubbling below the surface, before refreshing my focus on the task before me.

The more time and money and mental exertion I invest automating my life, the greater my need to contrive other opportunities to exercise and stretch and rest my eyes. In other words, this is why I still draw my curtains by hand.

The thing about most home automation is... These are labor saving devices which eliminate the need to get off my butt to perform some minor, uncomplicated and routine task.

If you're going to write your answers, then shut up and post that to a blog. Talk shows should be conversational and unscripted.

advice to podcast hosts: Do not provide your questions in advance, or writers will painstakingly craft their ultimately bloodless answers.

advice to nonfiction writers on podcasts: Do not script your answers! Just have a conversation, like you would with a buddy in your field or your brother who knows nothing about this subject.
