That my name is “Obafemi” does not mean I am a Nigerian. Yoruba people that are non-Nigerians bear the name “Obafemi”. You can’t Nigerianize a name that is not exclusive to Nigeria. To avoid confusion and conflict the right caption should be “Everybody is doing the Obafemi strut by a (Yoruba-Nigerian) WWE wrestler. This will enable the world to know that this particular Obafemi you are referring to is from Nigeria. Names like Adebayo are prominent in Togo and Benin republic. Now imagine Adebayo, Arsenal legend! He is a Yoruba but not a Nigerian Yoruba. He is a Togolese-Yoruba. So, Obafemi is a Nigerian-Yoruba.

Keep saying nonsense. The original post said Adebayo is not Nigerian and we are saying both his parents are from osun state, Nigeria which makes him a full blooded Nigerian man.. Some Yorubas were sold to Cuba, Brazil, and so on before Nigeria was created, so how can their offsprings be Nigerian ? They can be Yoruba, but not necessarily Nigerian.

All Yoruba people are of Nigeria descendant. If you are not Omo odua, you can’t be Yoruba. All African-American are of African descent. No matter how many years ago they have lived there.. so any Yoruba person you see, can still trace their ancestors to Nigeria. Just stop already.. Chinese- American have been existing for over 200 years, and they are still of Chinese descendant.

Adebayo is both a Nigerian and Togolese, and there are non Nigerian Yorubas with the same name too. These are established facts, so why arguing ?

Troubling Developments in Our Polity that Must Be Nipped in the Bud. I have just been made aware early this morning that Revered religious leader, Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Umar has been arrested by authorities shortly after hosting me in Kaduna on Sunday. This development underscores the deeply troubling state of our nation and our democracy, where freedom of speech and movement is increasingly threatened, and where citizens and perceived political opponents face harassment and unnecessary persecution. This cannot be allowed to continue. This country must defend freedom and free speech, which are the hallmarks of every democratic society. Suppression and intimidation of dissent can never stand in a democratic society, and this Nigerian government must understand this fact. I respectfully call on all those bent on undermining our already fragile democracy to please stop and apply the rule of law and tenets of democracy in dealing with citizens. -PO
