Yesterday, the man, the myth, the legend @Michael040262 had his last operating list in the NHS. Even taught me how to do an implant and a revision. Congratulations - even though it’s not the end just yet!
Having to pay £260 to use an online logbook that is mandatory for me to be able to complete my training… no logbook, no progression. System is broken. Sour every single year.
Core training finito.
Now the fun really begins. Never thought 10 years ago when I started medical school that I would become a urologist. Here we go! 🥳
@ScotGovFM I was born and raised in Scotland. I went to study medicine in Exeter because I didn’t gain a place in Scottish medical schools. I came straight back and by the time I’ve finished surgical training, you’ll have 9 years out of me in the NHS. Pay my fees? I’m Scottish.
NHS logic - rota gap, out to locum, no one takes it, person on has to do their work plus more and doesn’t get any kind of compensation for working double, sometimes triple, sometimes more. We deserve better.
2 irritants today. 1. Mrcs part b results not being released at the same time as other colleges. 2. Scrub nurse complaining how long my FIRST lap appendix that was fecking honking and so stuck was taking me because she needed to go home. ME TOO.
Pretty gutting considering how few elective days I get due to on call disasters on my rota and that basically there are no consultants in next week because of the holidays and my week of 5 precious elective days will results in 0 elective opportunities.
