Officers must intervene if they see another officer using excessive force. What part of there are 👀 everywhere are MOS not understanding 🤔 Control Your Emotions, PERIOD!

What does the public think : Is this reasonable force to subdue a suspect who is resisting ( passive or aggressive )? Or is this extra judicial punishment and excessive force while taking a suspect into custody and handcuffing them? 🤔

When the victim in this case was telling MOS they had the wrong guy, did they stop to think, maybe he is innocent? The answer is clear, the beating unjustified.

@JohnDMacari @TheFinestCast Stop making excuses for bad conduct & tactics. The "victim" not a perp was brutally beaten by two veteran detectives. The reason, they were in hyper overdrive! Yes, MOS should never be in the field without a radio. But this type of abuse cast a black cloud ove the entire dept.

This morning we are going to be discussing this video. We will be talking about the failure of NYPD leadership who left these detectives without a proper form of communication. NYPD leadership left them cut off from radio communications and sent them after the wrong individual. I can’t say what the man perceived or what he was thinking. He was innocent and he shouldn’t have been placed in this situation. NYPD’s incompetent leadership strikes again, they failed both their members and the public.

Some speeding clown today in the west bound lane crossed the double yellow line. I was in the east bound lane, next I heard a wack and a whizz as my side view mirror came through my open window passed my eyes in what seemed like slow motion..🙄 At 90 life is still exciting 😁

🚨NEW: As a former NYPD officer and 25+ year retired member of law enforcement, I've seen these situations play out too many times. This Boerum Hill liquor store video is a textbook example of what happens when someone brings the courtroom to the streets. The plainclothes narcotics detectives had reasonable suspicion - they observed what they believed was a drug sale and approached a man matching the exact description. That's enough for a lawful investigative detention and handcuffing while they sort it out. It turned out to be mistaken identity (no drugs, wrong guy), but the street isn't the place to litigate that. Physically resisting turned a quick ID check into chaos, broken bottles, and injuries. Comply first. Contest later. Let the system hash it out at the scene if possible, at the precinct or in court - it's safer for everyone and gives you the strongest position if there's a mistake. There are a number of videos circulating online of an incident that occurred yesterday inside a store in Brooklyn involving two members of the NYPD. As I said at a press conference earlier today, these videos are deeply disturbing, and the matter is under active investigation by the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau. The officers in question are modified. Their guns and shields have been removed.
