romantasy is the most dogshit made up genre ever i swear. I've not read a single good romantasy book and all good "romantasy" books are literally just fantasy books with romantic subplots that get miscategorized as romantasy

It could be used for past books but imo its a product a of post 2020-when female gaze/perception shifted. Sadly many romantasy also have debatable couples but the intention at least…😅

@franclaiir @nlibrarymouse Imo the name is helpful tho, I don’t like romantasy either but a category for fantasy with mainly romance helps the difference. Misogyny is present but mainly women write it and imo it’s for escapism;even if not always well written, there’s female gaze just like the romance genre
