What If Our “True Self” Doesn’t Exist At All?

@ChrisWillx The only true judge of the self is ourselves. That can get murky, of course—but to define one’s true self by what society or ‘others’ think is not only misguided, it’s a logical fallacy. No one else can ever truly know what lies within us.

@ChrisWillx Once you can release all of these and find your true self, that is not invented. Me and someone else could go through the same exact learning process every single day and do the same exact motions and come out with different outcomes. Uniqueness is individual.

@ChrisWillx The true self does exist, but you have to un peel it from behind the layers from the expectations of society. What do your parents want? What troubles have you gone through? Whoever you surrounded yourself with? What job do you have? Where do you live?

@matthew_labosco Responding to this individually because the more I’ve grown as a person, ‘ the law of attraction’ has been pulling me towards new opportunities. I am nervous because I understand that I am young, but I know that doesn’t mean I don’t deserve it.

@sutevskid @syedbalkhi Taking this to a broader perspective this is the problem with politics. Pleasing that people should not be in their good. Focus instead on what is best for them in the long run versus what they want.

That last part is the most difficult lesson for leaders. I've had to make difficult decisions that were best for the company, although they were unpopular with some employees. Simply, leading is not a popularity contest; it's more about making the right choices for the collective good.

The most difficult skill for a CEO is managing your own psychology. The need to be liked is a drug. You must separate the feeling of being disliked from the knowledge that you are doing what is necessary to grow the business and take care of your customers for the long-term! Now this doesn't mean that you have the right to be an a**hole ... quite the opposite actually. Be kind, be transparent, and be you! And just accept that some people won't like you for being you and doing you .... and that is ok :)

@mimrancse @syedbalkhi The reason for this as well is because you can give someone the exact blueprint of what is in your mind and they could not replicate it because it’s not theirs. The top calls that have to be made might be a risk, but it might be one that you need to take.

@syedbalkhi Absolutely. The hardest part isn’t strategy or sales—it’s staying grounded and confident when people don’t agree with your decisions. You can be kind and transparent while still making the tough calls. Learning to separate your self-worth from others’ opinions is a game-changer.

@syedbalkhi @NavalismHQ I truly can appreciate the viewpoint. You are not for everyone. The faster that realization comes the easier the business. Too much of what we learn now is affected by what other people think. The uniqueness comes when we stay to what we believe instead of changing for others.

We put street smarts up against book smarts as if it is some binary choice. We must have both. Only a fool settles for just one.

@RyanHoliday I am currently young. My perspective will be different than others. Patterns and pattern recognition. Every problem has been solved before. There are certain struggles that you’re currently going through. They aren’t the exact same, but extremely similar to ones you faced before.

Learning keeps you young, even as wisdom adds years to your life. So what are you studying? What are you returning to as if you were a beginner?

Talent without nerve is useless. The world doesn’t remember the silent genius, it remembers the person who took action.

@IamRandomHeart @rajshamani I can appreciate this because what you’re saying is true. To add onto it as well in order for his ideas to stick, he had to have the courage to put them out there.

@rajshamani i always think about how many talents out there are better than the ones we see. but these talents are hidden from the world because the owners didn't show it.
