Here’s why @Tigers should be buyers not sellers at trade deadline. With 5th straight win, they’re just 4.5 games back, but more importantly, they have the best run differential in AL Central. Over time, the luck equalizes and the leader in this stat usually has the best record.

@grist Nevermind that Texas is solving its power problems (reliability and cost) with more renewables. 🤦‍♂️

In a revised energy plan, the Tennessee Valley Authority follows Trump administration directives and shies away from solar and wind. bit.ly/4f7cWQ2

@ProjectLincoln Sadly, most voters don’t pay attention to actual policy at all, so I expect this to have exactly zero effect on the election.

@thehill He had a Nazi tattoo and allegedly raped someone and a group of Ivy League political dorks cosplaying as working class progressives didn’t know how to vet him. There. Now you don’t need to read the story.

Hot take: all you need is 3M to retire. 6% annual dividend = 180K annual income.

Citizenship should never be for sale. This is the clearest case yet for my Constitutional Amendment ending automatic birthright citizenship for children of foreigners or those just passing through to give birth so their child becomes an American citizen.
Right Angle News Network@Rightanglenews

BREAKING - Hospitals in the U.S. are advertising in Latin American countries, offering “birth packages” of up to $5,000 to foreigners to help them give birth in border states like Texas, allowing their children to be born as U.S. citizens following the new SCOTUS ruling.

@thehill Campaigns and fundraising for them should be limited to the calendar year of the election. 2028 cycle has now lapped the 2026 cycle. Pretty soon we will just have PACs airing ads on January 21st for the next presidential election.

Troy Jackson comes from far northern Maine which has one of the most idiosyncratic linguistic situations in America with a large share of the population being Francophone Acadians and Anglophones speak with this unusual accent.

Birthright citizenship is especially noxious to the populist right. They scorn it as relying on magic dirt — the idea that there is something inherent in American soil that makes a person an American citizen. Yet the same populists seem to believe in something like magic blood — that one’s lineage can make one superior. America doesn’t have magic dirt, and it certainly doesn’t have magic blood. But it does have a magic idea — the creed that declares “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” nytimes.com/2026/07/09/opi…

To everyone constantly criticizing our alliance with Israel: their intelligence just helped keep our President from being assassinated by Iran.

@WendyRWang @Noahpinion The fertility rate fell because of the decline in childbearing in peoples’ 20s. But why did childbearing in peoples’ 20s decline? That’s the million dollar question.

In just 18 years, the U.S. total fertility rate (TFR) fell from a replacement level of 2.1 children per woman to a record low of 1.57. How did we get here? Sometimes the obvious is hard to see. The direct cause is the massive drop in childbearing among women in their 20s, which account for 78% of the overall decline. @Noahpinion @luke_metro I think a high percentage of people would prefer living their daydream idea of a middle-class Parisian lifestyle. Paris is great and sucks sometimes. Suburban America is great and sucks sometimes, too. Everything has trade-offs.
