@RyakiRockRadio I'm not saying you have to play every single game to be a fan, but if someone tells me they love RE but can't play Requiem I'd expect them to have played some of the older ones at least. Just don't watch video essays and pretend like it's the same thing as playing the games.

@_rawrell I'm inclined to disagree with that second part. As a Metroid fan, I know many people who started with Super and couldn't imagine playing anything without a map in the top-right corner. Even Arlo admitted he's never touched the first two games.

Apparently this is a hot take in REtwt, but if you're not willing to spend money on a game you supposedly like, and refuse to play the older ones because you hate the gameplay then sorry but you're not a real fan.

"But I'm too poor you privileged chud!" RE1-4 can literally run on 15yo PCs. Either play the games you can or STFU about being a "fan". I don't know why people try so hard to be part of a fandom, there's nothing wrong with casually enjoying something without being a fan.
