I’ve woken up at 4am for the last 4 days, so right now I feel like overtired Muffin in @OfficialBlueyTV’s “Sleepover”

I don’t have much going in the next few days so I thought it would be a good time to tweet on behalf of the people of Brisbane for a week. Follow our journey: will anyone fail a preflight covid test this time? Will I lose a child in Changi airport?

9 years, 4 kids, 4 jobs, 2 houses, and it’s time for us to go home. Thanks everyone, it was really fun. I’ll miss you. Come and visit us where the cars have fuel, the shops have groceries, and the beaches have sand. 🇦🇺💚💛

Please talk to someone if you need to. I talked to my gp first and they were pretty good. My friends and colleagues have been great. But I probably wouldn’t have done it if other people hadn’t shared their experiences, so I’m sharing mine.

The more I’ve withdrawn from normal life (or the 2020/2021 version of normal) the harder it seems to get back to it. I’m sure one day I will. This week? Next month? In 2 years? In the meantime I’m sorry and thank you.

In the spirit of openness and sharing and stuff: I have depression. I am depressed. I am now medicated and that has been up and down but it has been and continues to be quite hard to carry on with.

Doctor says ‘treatment is simple. The CASE Higher Education Social Media Conference is in town and the social media manager from the University of Reading is presenting. Go and see him. That should pick you up.’

Heard joke once: man goes to doctor. Says he’s depressed. Says social media seems pointless and cruel. Says he feels bad for contributing to a toxic environment where bad behaviour is rewarded.
