Let's just call it what it is. @MarilynGladuSL is in it for herself. She wants the attention and the chance to be seen as someone who is sitting with the PM. She has no care about her constituents, who BTW have had the SarniaโLambtonโBkejwanong riding as a Conservative riding since 2006 and was one which she won (as a Conservative) with 52% of the vote. It needs to be put into law that should you decide to floor cross, a byelection has to be called. Ignoring your democratic obligations to represent your constituents is reprehensible.

Some of you have been following me for a long time, and I really appreciate it. As you know, Iโve been following the oil markets for many years and, although far from perfect, Iโve made some good calls along the way. In my view, this is the current situation: Trump likely thinks oil is a homogeneous molecule and probably doesnโt understand hydrocarbon partitioning, chain utilization, allocation to products, material balance, or the fact that it simply isnโt closing. In my opinion, he canโt back away nowโhis legacy is too important to him and to Bibi. Any TACO scenario here would not only damage Trumpโs reputation but also wouldnโt guarantee that Iran stops hijacking ships and disrupting flow through the Strait. Another important angle is that the Arab Gulf countries simply wonโt be able to accept this reality or any continuation of the current status quo going forward. Therefore, I think there will be no TACO, and instead weโll see US boots on the islands in an attempt to secure the energy markets. Trump doesnโt want to do it, but unfortunately, soon enough he will realize that what he didnโt understand in his science class will quickly translate into world leaders pressuring him to take action... ๐ซก๐ช

Physical shortages imminent. ๐ข๏ธforecasted Middle Eastern production cumulative losses ~900MM Bbls even with things normalizing in April = death of the Super Glut narrative = baseline reset for balances. Inevitable demand destruction cannot offset 11MM Bbl/d of production losses. ๐ข๏ธproduction coming back online will take months (Kuwait saying 3-4 months, what of Iraq?) + potential for (semi) permanent losses due to reservoir damage ๐ข๏ธexpected enduring political risk premium of $10/bbl-$20/bbl with new floor price of $70-$80 ๐ข๏ธwhat is the value of OPEC spare capacity (all 1.5MM Bbl/of it pre-war) if much of it is vulnerable to a $30,000 drone = increasing strategic value of long-dated reserves in politically stable countries with egress (๐จ๐ฆ) ๐ข๏ธwe already have strategic hoarding and product export bans, expect more countries to build SPRs = future demand ๐ข๏ธstill TBD damage of many refineries and infrastructure = abnormally high refining margins, plus need to replenish what was already low stock levels
