We’re not having what it means to be a lesbian redefined by Lydia or anyone else. She should spend some time with mature lesbians who know what we’re talking about.

Like Mufasa and Simba surveying the Pride Lands, the AHRC and the Sex Discrimination Commissioner have approached the SDA as a shining sun from which little behaviour is hidden. Justice Moshinsky’s ruling that this kind of reach is not intended in the Act, may be the start of checking the overreach of the AHRC. ⬇️

I welcome the Federal Court’s decision in favour of the Lesbian Action Group. This is a significant step toward restoring sex-based rights in Australian law. This case highlights how the law has shifted since 2013, with gender identity increasingly treated as overriding biological sex. The result has been confusion and the steady erosion of protections for women. If women cannot define themselves by biology, then women’s rights cannot be meaningfully protected. Women should never have to go to court to defend the right to gather as women. I strongly support the Lesbian Action Group and commend them for standing firm. This decision should be a turning point. The law must be clarified to ensure single-sex spaces, services and associations are protected. @ActiveLesbians

Andrew Bolt completely messed up his story on the LAG decision tonight, getting the name of the group wrong, the decision wrong, the implications wrong. It’s like where lesbian’s human rights are concerned people think they can say any random shit. @ActiveLesbians

Our intention is to win an exemption so that anyone who wants to do something similar, i.e. hold a public event for straight women, will also be able to do so. Ultimately, we want to see the Sex Discrimination Act amended in the High Court so that an exemption isn’t necessary for us to get together with the people that we want to spend time with in public venues if they are of the same sex (not gender).

1/ Up until today it was unlawful for lesbians to have a lesbian only meeting in a publicly funded "pride centre" in Oz. That hasn't technically changed today as a matter of law, but the Federal Court has basically just said it bloody better change soon. By way of explainer...

@TeamPfizer @Jebadoo2 We totally agree but you'd be shocked at the amount of vicious emails we have recieved since yesterday, including from some lesbians. It's crazy because there is nothing stopping those lesbians from running events that are open to trans identified males.
