Glad to see that the majority of you think the exclamation point is the way to go. In recent copyedits, I’ve switched commas out for exclamation points a number of times in these situations, so I was starting to worry about it. Thanks, #edibuddies‼️

Poll for my #edibuddies: With the speech tag "shouted" (or a synonym—she yelled, she cried, she exclaimed, etc.), should the dialogue itself end with an exclamation point? In other words: ["Don't go," she shouted.] Would you change the comma to an exclamation point?
