About a year ago, I made a fun TikTok video with my daughter where I rated different reading software (including Mentava, of course) Looks like Readability has now copied that video (including my daughter's voice) to turn it into an ad for their crappy app

VAN RIPER WAS A CHEATING HACK. HE EXPLOITED UNCLEAR RULES AND GAVE HIMSELF MOTORCYCLE COURIERS THAT TRAVELED AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT AND SPEEDBOATS THAT CARRIED BALLISTIC MISSILES LARGER THAN PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE. THEY WERE RIGHT TO RESET THE SIM AND HE THREW A FIT OVER IT.

In 2002, the US conducted Millennium Challenge, the largest war games in its history. They split soldiers into two teams: 🔵Blue, which was America, and 🔴Red, an unnamed generic Middle Eastern country. The 🔴Red team was led by retired Marine Corps Lieutenant General Paul K. Van Riper. The idea behind the games was to see how, not if, the 🔵Blue team would win. In other words, the 🔴Red team was supposed to lose, but General Van Riper didn’t want to lose. So he played to win. He used asymmetric tactics by doing things like using civilian boats instead of military ones, motorcycle couriers and coded messages in mosque towers because their cell phone networks had been hacked. He launched a massive preemptive strike using a swarm of small boats and cruise missiles, which overwhelmed the 🔵Blue Team’s Aegis defense system. In the simulation, this resulted in the “sinking” of 16 American warships, including an aircraft carrier. The exercise was supposed to take 14 days. Vin Riper and his team won after day one. Understandably, the US military was embarrassed because this was supposed to show off all its superior tactics and cutting edge technologies. So, they restarted the exercise and changed the rules to force everyone to follow a script so that the 🔴red team could not win. The exercise controllers brought the sunken ships back to life, and forced Van Riper to follow a scripted path that ensured a 🔵Blue Team victory. 🔴Red was ordered to turn off certain air defense systems and use regular cellular communications to allow 🔵Blue to destroy them. 🔴Red was also told exactly where to move certain units so 🔵Blue could pretend to find them and neutralise them according to a pre-planned timeline. Most crucially, Van Riper was forbidden from using the swarming tactics that had been so effective in the opening hours. The controllers argued that the reset was necessary because the goal of Millennium Challenge 2002 wasn’t just to see who would win, but to test new Network-Centric Warfare concepts. They felt that if the game ended on Day 2, they wouldn’t get to test the rest of their expensive toys. Van Riper, however, argued that testing those toys in a rigged environment provided a false sense of security. General Van Riper was so angry, he quit the exercise midway and wrote a 21-page recommendation on changes the military had to make to, get around his asymmetric tactics. They ignored the report and said the exercises were a huge success that proved the military doctrine was good. “It was no longer a free-play exercise... it was a scripted exercise. They had a desired outcome, and they were going to get it.” — Lt. Gen. Paul Van Riper 24 years later, maybe Von Riper was onto something.

Quem a defende?

I built an app that does what thousand dollar DGT chessboards do. Then I showed it to @DanielRensch, the Chief Chess Officer of @chesscom Point your phone at any chessboard and get the position for chess engine analysis. That's it. Beta is on TestFlight. Link below 👇🏾:

Still a work in progress. My side project (KnightVision) will allow everyone to fully digitize OTB Chess. From scoresheets to physical boards. Just point your camera and you get FEN/PGN.

Thyroid is super sensitive to radiation. This study from last year found that people who wore Bluetooth headsets for long hours every day were much more likely to develop Thyroid nodules. Researchers analysed 600 participants & used advanced statistical tools to reduce bias. Even after adjusting for age and other factors, Bluetooth use time still stood out as a strong risk. In fact, When they ranked all possible risk factors, Daily Bluetooth use & Age came out on top. The longer someone wore a Bluetooth headset each day, the higher their risk of developing nodules. In-ear & Neckband headsets, which sit closest to the thyroid, showed the STRONGEST links. This is clearly not about heating the tissues… Their AI model could predict Thyroid nodules with 95% accuracy.. that’s how strong the link with Bluetooth use was. Bluetooth runs on very low power, way too weak to cook anything. What the researchers point to instead are non-thermal effects. Oxidative stress, disruptions in cell signalling & long term stress on the thyroid’s delicate tissue Official safety limits for wireless devices only consider heating but this study shows there are biological effects happening at much lower levels

I spent $12,000 on therapy over 2 years trying to fix my anger before someone checked my blood Was snapping at my girlfriend over nothing. Road rage every commute. Constant irritability that I'd mask all day at work and then explode the second I got home. Therapist said it was unprocessed childhood trauma. We spent 2 years unpacking my relationship with my father Here's what was actually happening in my body: my gut was leaking endotoxin into my bloodstream which was keeping my immune system in a permanent inflammatory state. Chronic inflammation elevates cortisol. Elevated cortisol burns through magnesium. Low magnesium destroys GABA production. Without GABA your nervous system has no brake pedal I didn't have an anger problem. I had no neurological ability to regulate a stress response because my inhibitory system was running on empty Nobody tested this. Not my therapist. Not my doctor. Not the psychiatrist who suggested I "might benefit from an SSRI to take the edge off" 3 practitioners. 2 years. $12,000+. Zero blood draws Fixed my gut. Restored magnesium and zinc. GABA came back online. The rage disappeared in weeks. Not managed. Not suppressed. Gone. Because the thing causing it was gone I think about those 2 years of therapy sessions analyzing my childhood while my body was on fire and nobody thought to check. Talking about my father while my cortisol was 3x baseline because my intestinal lining had holes in it The mental health industry is billing $280 billion a year in the US. Almost none of it starts with blood work If you're doing everything right psychologically and still can't control your reactions, you might not have a mind problem. You might have an inflammation problem that no one in the room is trained to find

I still can’t get over this. Please realize that if the West falls, they are not only going to take the future away from your kids, they are going to take away the past. They’ll rewrite everything. They’ll erase your ancestors with the stroke of a pen. The ones they don’t erase, they’ll make the bad guys in every story. The idea that Polybius made up the Second Punic War to justify the Third Punic War is obviously insane. But let me explain to you just how insane it really is. The Third Punic War began only 52 years after the Second Punic War ended. 149 BC vs 201 BC. There were many many Romans who lived through both wars. Cato the Elder, the main architect of the Third Punic War, the guy that ended every speech with “Carthage must be destroyed”, literally fought for 15 whole years in the Second Punic War. Jiang wants you to believe that Polybius completely fabricated a two decade long devastating war, that happened all over Italy itself, within living memory, for which almost every Roman male was recruited and 33% of fighting age Roman men died. He wants you to believe that some 65 year old Roman guy would go “Huh, I didn’t realize my city was captured by this Hannibal Barca character and the population of Italy laid waste when I was 15. I must’ve missed it.” Obviously there is a ton of archaeological and literary evidence for the Second Punic War and the existence of Hannibal Barca that is independent of Polybius. That should go without saying. But I want you to really stop and think about the kind of person who comes up with this theory, makes a video about it, and posts that video on YouTube. This is not a guy with a few facts wrong. This is not an innocent misunderstanding of history. If Western civilization falls, these are the people who are going to be teaching your kids.
Roman Helmet Guy@romanhelmetguy

‘Professor’ Jiang says Hannibal Barca never existed. He says the entire Second Punic War was made up by Polybius. The Second Punic War is in reality one of the most documented wars in ancient history. Please stop getting your geopolitical takes from crazies.
