Might get hate for this, pero for me lang ha. I promote din sya ng ibang members sa solo accounts nila, gawin din nila yung dc. Kasi pansin ko, dalawa lang masipag gumawa ng mga dc

FINAL INTERVIEW Interviewer: "What is your expected salary?" Your mind blanks. You say : "I haven't really thought about it. I'm okay with whatever you offer." Interview ends. No offer. Here’s what they actually want. ✅ Correct Answer: Candidate: "Based on my research and considering my experience, skills, and the industry standard, I'm looking for a salary in the range of [specific range]. In my previous role at [Previous Company], I gained extensive experience in [relevant skills/industry], which has prepared me well for this position. I believe this range reflects my qualifications and the value I can bring to your team." 🔵 Correct Answer: Candidate: "I would expect a salary that is in line with the market rate for this position and my level of experience. For instance, in my last role at [Previous Company], my salary was [specific amount], and considering my additional skills and the responsibilities of this new role, I believe a salary in the range of [specific range] would be appropriate." 🟢 Correct Answer: Candidate: "I’ve done some research on the typical salary for this role in this region and, considering my background and the demands of the job, I’m looking for a salary in the range of [specific range]. At [Previous Company], I had the opportunity to enhance my skills in [relevant skills], which I believe adds value to this role and justifies this expectation." Don't Say These During Salary Negotiation When it comes to job offers, salary is often one of the most important factors to think about. However, bringing it up during an interview can be tricky. Here’s a guide to salary questions you might want to avoid during an interview. ❌ “How much does this job pay?” ✅ “Can you give an overview of the compensation package, including salary, benefits, and additional incentives?” ❌ “I need at least KES.X, or I won’t consider the offer.” ✅ “Based on my experience and the value I can bring to this role, I’d like to discuss a salary range that works for both of us, starting around KES.X.” ❌ “I want a higher salary than what’s listed.” ✅ “Considering my background and skills, can we discuss a salary adjustment to reflect the added value I can bring to this position?” ❌ “What’s the minimum salary you’re willing to offer?” ✅ “I want to ensure the salary matches the role's responsibilities and my qualifications. Can we discuss a range that reflects both?” ❌ “I’ll take whatever you offer.” ✅ “I’m excited about this opportunity and confident we can come to an agreement that fairly compensates the value I bring to the table.” ❌ “I heard other companies pay more.” ✅ "While I understand there are different compensation structures in the market, I’m more interested in how this role fits into my career growth and how we can find a fair balance.” ❌ “I need a high salary because I have a lot of personal expenses.” ✅ “I’m hoping for a package that reflects the role’s demands and my professional expertise. Let’s discuss how we can align on that.” ❌ “I can’t accept anything lower than KES.X.” ✅ “I’m flexible, but based on my research and the responsibilities of this role, I’m aiming for a salary in the range of KES. to KES. .” ❌ “What’s the salary for this position?” ✅ “Could you walk me through how this position is compensated, including performance-based bonuses or other benefits?” ❌ “I’ll only take this job if you offer KES. .” ✅ “I’m very interested in the position, and I’m confident we can agree on compensation that reflects my experience and the company’s needs.” No interview invitation in the last 6 weeks? Let’s help you fix that CV and get you noticed. Email your CV to cv@oyk.co.ke with subject 'Revamp'.

Recruiter : Why did you quit the company before? Candidate : My old company was not very good! ❌ Sometimes recruiters really want to know why you resign. Would you like to give such a negative answer? Instead, give a more positive answer so that they can see you as a professional and mature candidate. For example: 1. Resign or be dismissed voluntarily ✅ "I resigned voluntarily in search of new challenges and opportunities that better suited my career goals." 2. Still looking for the right career direction ✅ "I wanted to get more clarity on the direction of my career, and I felt the opportunities to develop in my previous role were quite limited." 3. Mismatch skills and jobs ✅ "I realized that my skills didn't fit the needs of the role, so I looked for a position where my skills could be maximized." 4. Company values and culture ✅ "I felt that the culture and values at my previous company were not in line with mine, and I was looking for a work environment that could support me to grow and contribute better." 5. Want to grow ✅ "I want to develop my career and learn new things, while my previous role hasn't given me enough room for that." 6. Salary and benefits ✅ "I appreciate my experience at the previous company, but I am also looking for a position with compensation that is more in line with my abilities and experience." 7. Work-life balance ✅ "I needed a better work-life balance to manage my personal and professional responsibilities in a balanced way, and that was quite challenging in my previous role." 8. Move domicile ✅ "I'm moving to a new city, so I'm looking for a job opportunity that's closer to where I am now." With answers like this, recruiters can see you as a smart, communicative, and professional candidate. Especially if you can explain calmly and confidently.

HR: “You are overqualified for this position.” Most candidates respond like this: ❌ “I’m okay with this level of position.” ❌ “I don’t mind stepping back in my career.” ❌ “I just want something less stressful right now.” These answers often work against the candidate because they signal uncertainty, desperation, or a lack of clear career direction. A stronger response would sound like this: “I understand why my experience and background may appear overqualified for this role. The reason I’m interested is that this position allows me to make an impact quickly. I’ve done similar work on a larger scale, which means I can contribute immediately and deliver results for your organization.” You can then address HR’s underlying concern directly: “If your concern is about salary expectations or long-term tenure, I’d like to clarify my intention. I’m at a stage in my career where I want to focus and perform. This is not a temporary role or a stepping stone for me. It aligns with my goals, and I’m confident we can find a solution that works for both sides.” Why this answer works: 1. It reframes “overqualified” as value, not risk. 2. It shows the decision is deliberate, not driven by necessity. 3. It reduces concerns about short-term tenure. 4. It positions you as a high-quality hire from the start. 5. It keeps the salary discussion open and professional. This approach also naturally transitions the conversation to expected salary—allowing you to position yourself strategically, not defensively. The psychology behind it: HR often worries that overqualified candidates will leave as soon as a better opportunity arises. Many recruiters have experienced this before. When you clearly explain why the role aligns with your career goals and how your experience adds value, the “overqualified” label shifts from a risk to a benefit. The reality: “Overqualified” is one of the hardest objections to manage. Remember this: do not apologize for your experience. Expertise should justify a premium, not a discount. Being overqualified is only a problem if you allow it to be framed as one. And if this objection comes up repeatedly, it may be a sign that it’s time to pursue a more senior role. Clear? Please share if this was helpful.
