My sister's destination wedding invite just landed and my bank account immediately went into shock. We're talking a 6-hour flight for my family, which means at least $6,000 to $8,000 for flights and a cheap Airbnb. That doesn't even count food, a rental car, or anything for the kids. We'd have to stay for days, because that long of a flight isn't worth just a quick trip.
My wife just quit working to stay home with our kids, so our budget is tighter than ever๏ฟผ Spending 8 grand on a single trip right now feels genuinely impossible.
So I'm stuck: do I tell her we simply can't afford it and risk being the worst sibling ever? Or do we drain our savings, max out credit cards, and go into debt just to attend? I don't want to miss it, but I also don't want to financially ruin us. What's the best way to even tell her?๏ฟผ
