Francis, cuyo nombre real era Francisco del Carmen García Escalante, fue una de las figuras más emblemáticas y pioneras del espectáculo en México, rompiendo barreras en una época donde la diversidad tenía muy poca visibilidad en los medios masivos de los 80's. Francis no se consideraba a sí misma una "drag queen" en el sentido moderno, sino una showwoman y transformista. Su espectáculo, "El Show de Francis", se mantuvo en cartelera por décadas (especialmente en el Teatro Blanquita), ofreciendo una producción de nivel Las Vegas con bailarines, vestuarios extravagantes y parodias de primer nivel.
