@sovietwithsazon Again, I don't think he's referring to the same conversations you are. It should be obvious that such discussions are not trivial and don't distract from other topics but I don't think what he's saying is meant to dismiss critiques of patriarchy/rape culture.

Can you please explain why out of the thousands of trivial conversations happening on Twitter the one you two think is the “true” distraction from anti-imperialism is the critique of rape culture and why you think women discussing their experiences of rape culture isn’t a serious critique?

As someone who’s country was just bombed by the United States, I spent the weekend with several neighbors of the pueblo that was bombed and after discussing anti-mining resistance we also vented about how dominated dating is by rape culture here. I’m not surprised that Americans think you can’t do both though

so weird stumbling upon that entire other side of twitter that's arguing about the ethics of oral sex or whatever as a catastrophic regional war escalates and a global depression and energy shortages look increasingly likely

@sovietwithsazon His timeline is not the same as yours and I doubt he's dismissive of subjects like that. Saw plenty of tweets that had nothing to do about rape culture and were just discussions about how oral sex is view, I'm certain that's what he was talking about.

There are several other far more trivial conversations happening on Twitter and he chose to express frustration with a critique of rape culture that literally hasn’t infringed at all on marxist or anti-imperialist discourse besides by people like him who pretend women’s issues distract from “real political issues”

@sovietwithsazon I say minor because what he's referring to is some trivial social media discussions about oral sex, not serious critiques about patriarchy and it's impact on dating culture.

@sovietwithsazon He is Iranian if that wasn't obvious, the annoyance is not with just these discussions it's with the fact there are many who only care about talking about these minor topics while many Middle Eastern Easterners are experiencing what feels like the apocalypse.
