(1) Thread: I joined fund management early in my career. At that point, my first firm was small, I had many opportunities to learn & grow. It was not as structured so roles were flexible. Which is why I always encourage to start with small firm and learn as much as you can.

@amirulruslan @esshimself They are not global enough to generate the revenue they require to fulfil the ambition they have. The play in Malaysian league which globally is nowhere and wont generate value from broadcasters. And yes if they cant make it others cant. The gulf is too far.

@bumiwork @esshimself For your average club, sure, but JDT's global profile is on a different level. If JDT is essentially playing with financial cheat codes relative to everyone, the reality is no football club is worth the investment. If they can't make it financially viable, nobody ever will.

Football derives revenue from various streams: • Ticket sales (even at full house every game, too small an amount to finance wages and costs) • Sponsorship (small number given league isnt global hence eyeballs limited) • Merchandise (limited to own fans without a regional / global fan base) • TV rights (league isnt popular for broadcasters to be flushed with cash to share with clubs) • Transfer Fees (non existent in Malaysia) It’s why very hard to make money commercially standalone, unless you have generous sponsors

@esshimself Interesting, mildly surprised by this — always uncritically fell for the propaganda that it was him personally paying for it and making it a viable business through its success.

Younger girl wanted to buy something so I asked her to justify with facts. She prepared a powerpoint presentation. Supposedly early birthday present. She was advised by her sister in order to get something she must offer to do a chore besides the ones they do already. Govt should clarify if the deal signed with US is legally binding, post Supreme Court decision. We did agree to invest xxx in US and give first rights to them on various tech issues. Important govt gets a hold of narrative on this and if we are still obligated
