Few truths to understand today as a data professional:
- SQL is still the most reliable skill in data analytics.
- Most SQL problems are thinking problems, not syntax problems.
- Performance tuning matters less than correctness. Fast wrong answers are worse than slow right ones.
- Many analysts write SQL they cannot explain line by line.
- If your query needs comments to be understood, it is probably too complex.
- Learning SQL once is not enough. Real mastery comes from breaking queries and fixing them.
- The best SQL is boring to read.
- Complex SQL is usually a sign of a bad data model, not a smart analyst.
